Capcom International Selects Acme Packet Session Border Controllers for H.323 VoIP Network Peering
Spain's leading IP telephony provider chooses Acme Packet's Net-Net products for interworking functionality, security features and high availability architecture
WOBURN, MA, July 28, 2003 - Acme Packet™ today announced that Capcom International, Spain's most experienced and successful IP telephony provider, has selected Acme Packet's Net-Net™ session border controllers for peering its H.323 network with other service provider IP networks throughout the world. Capcom is using the Net-Net session border controllers to further expand its presence in Europe and to continue developing critical international regions including North America, Latin America, and Asia. The multiprotocol support with interworking functionality in the Net-Net products allows Capcom to peer with other H.323 or SIP-based network providers to expand network reach and vastly increase its traffic volume and revenue.
"Acme Packet provides the widest breadth in protocol support of all the session border controller vendors and equips Capcom to overcome the interworking challenges of exchanging real-time IP traffic with other providers. We can now peer with providers using different versions and configurations of H.323 and other protocols such as SIP, and are interoperable with equipment from such leading vendors as Cisco, Siemens, Sonus, and many others," commented Laura Caprile, Chairman and CEO, Capcom International.
Madrid based Capcom offers a myriad of communications products and services to its residential and business subscribers, including IP voice origination and termination, voice/fax over IP, pre paid calling cards, calling card based IVR, web to phone, click to talk, and others. Capcom provides excellent quality of service at affordable rates over its network, with offerings that include dial around code and direct access (through the installation of VOIP CPEs), as well as making calls from traditional phones using a toll free number, from PC to PC, from PC to fixed or wireless mobile phones, and more.
"Using the Net-Net products we are now peering with previously incompatible Tier 1 service provider networks to deliver extremely high-quality IP services to our subscribers," continued Caprile. "Simultaneously we are able to protect our network from attack, thanks to the advanced security and topology hiding features in the Acme Packet products. With their embedded session admission control capabilities the Net-Net products will play a key role in our VOIP over DSL deployment strategy. No other vendor could match Acme Packet's feature breath and depth in the high availability solution that we require."
"Acme Packet is excited to add Capcom, Spain's leading IP telephony provider, to our growing list of top-notch service provider customers," said Andy Ory, president and CEO, Acme Packet. "With deployments in Asia, Europe and North America, Acme Packet is helping providers, literally worldwide, to peer with other providers for the secure, high-quality delivery of real-time IP traffic as well as to offer hosted IP communications services to business and residential subscribers."
